april fool

yesterday,
crunchy bits
belly aching
off the top
too many almost like chocolate eggs
feel bloated full pimply pms-ing
sore throatish again
must be angry
angry about pms-ing
and sore throating,
achy
oh yes
deep and shallow
old feet
achy bunions
bigger than before
greasy
not really attractive
feel bottero in a bad way
stout
short
encumbered
cummerbunned
burnt out
hodge podge of weather
where is my goddess
the gods chatter in the trees
lost us again, eh little kimmie
oh really miffed when they call me that
humour on holidays
at the north sea
somewhere nice
big self doubt
double triple chins of my mind
too much, and not enough
more complaints
okay
toys they don't make em like they used too
metric
itchyness
disturbed
uncushioned
too cushioned
full
empty
at odds
hormonal
not normal
irritated
irrational
agitated
allergic
stop that
i hear them giggling
laughing full out
chattering in the trees
the gods
the passionate ones
and that naked muse
with the book of poems
the plants whispering
the new blooms
in the old vase
and the unscratched lottery ticket
you know
tommorrow is another day
(and indeed it is)

buried treasure

my poetry lives,
buried,
a buried treasure like those ice cream bars of the same name
buried treasure,
how many licks does it take to uncover it?
(they were my favorite, orange and vanilla delicious)
how many licks does it take?
blows,
to the ego
and self,
sweet sensations,
sticky fingers,
what will you do when you get to the treasure?
save the stick
wash off the stickiness
put it with your collection
or will you discover
all the delicious licks
was really the treasure
and the plastic stick
just a lure
of anticipation

resharpened

rebirth of pencils
resharpened to a point
delicate with potencial
i think of my colour blind animator friend
hi sean where are you now?
upon asking how do you get such nice color
in your work if you are colour blind
says he
i read the titles
on the pencil crayons

double dutch

join it
-or not
the double dutch rope is moving.
count
2,4,6,8
now
now
now
jump in!
jump in
now
-or not
miss a beat
fall
collapse
watch
hesitate
now
now
now
jump in now!

and you do
and the beat
keeps up
with you
you!
you!
you!

tilted

i have always drawn from emotion,
rather than logic
even in life drawing class
i tilted my head to the side
in a show of empathy
to understand better

the teacher
found it charming
but wrong
and adjusted my posture
so i could see
the way he thought
i needed to.

list

go to Italy
really cook a meal
smell the roses, again and again
kiss lots
smell the head of a child often
be peaceful
celebrate radishes
remember mangos can be blue
bounce
become unglued
look both ways
giggle
belly laugh
sob
wail
breathe
mostly
love

deeply

Dear, dear sirs

it has been brought to my attention
that your hair is on fire,
please do not panic
simply place your head under the tap
and wash away the flames
gently wrap your head in a towel
sit
sit
sit
there isn't that better?

Hello

the computer is playing me the nicest classical music
it is truly lovely,
but
I also remember it from one of my favorite movies,
"Harold and Maude"
so it is also hilarious
beautiful and comical
for no reason of it's own
i feel like laughing so hard
that tea shoots through my nose
then it hurts but is so funny,
sometimes I just feel this way,
silly and sincere
and just wanting to say
hello

hard weather

today the kinda cold that makes you wanna puke
so i rewrapped,
warmer, warmer
turned from woman into rectangle
fast day
ate soup
with homemade dumplings
who knew the doughy little things
put ya ta sleep
didn't
played charades instead
i liked being a wheelbarrow the best
cold wind
nip and tuck
tuck the longunderwear under
one day soon
well in a month or so
spring
the happy day
when everyone is more californian
friendly, open
and the ridiculous optomists already in shorts
for today, warm clothing, dumpling soup and charades
wanna play?

never too late for a make up class
the model with the smile of sweetness
and shock of dark hair
i sit + draw
as the poses get longer
i fidget
think of food and drink
i put my seat belt on
to avoid getting hurt in the collision
commit
2 and a half hours of looking
making marks on the page
