good groove

the nice thing about records are the cover art
nice and bold

somehow with my work, just recently, the record collecting bug
seeped in

and today i was pulled to prowl
hunting for the find
i have a list
and got to cross something off

into another store i went
and there crouched also in the hunt
was an old friend
he too on the look out for vinyl

my greatest find of the day
a friend from 20 years ago.

this is the nice thing about
being almost 40
you have friends from almost
20 years ago

somehow, since i decided that
i too wanted to buy records again

i slipped into this time warp groove,
a good one, warm sounding vinyl

and happily found a new old friend

revisiting the past, having my tuner
set to the 80's
i dialed him in i guess

circlular like the records i am searching for
in the groove
well worn, revisited
and like dropping the needle
to a favorite song, no beat is missed

the conversation easily picked up
just like the last,
dust cover
excellent condition
mint maybe
with no scratch.
