from under water i catch a breath
.... it has been a long time, holding my electronic breath,
aquaman was always my favorite superhero, i even had the pencil case
i am back in time for the lovely cooling
the nooks of house warmth
and pleasant busy doing
stay tuned for lots of things
balls of string
kittens that are magicians
and eggplants who i am on a first name basis with
welcome back says me to me
i will sit type type and have a cup a tea

Will and the Other world
Inspiration for this pillow is taken from the book by Phillip Pullman entitled "The Subtle Knife". The subtle knife allows Will to enter and exit other worlds. The books are very good 3 in total part of 'His Dark Materials' trilogy. I still must read the last one.

name that tune
i can name that tune is 1,027 beats
anticipation
sitting on the edge of not knowing this or that
pachinko machine balls decide my fate
silver and heavy
what is behind curtain number one
the donkey or the 1968 buick
is the price right?
can you guess it without going over
gamble
for all your worth
put a price on the priceless
economies, environments
human footprints
should i wear heavy doc martens
or fairy light slippers
when i dream at night where do i go..
today i am waiting
and the curtain will reveal if i get the donkey or the shiny new newness

it's true

reminds me of the russian relvolution

loose threads
Alligators and crocodiles are living underneath the floor boards
but they are excellent mothers
my old dog walked past me last night
in this life his ears are shorter
the sun is weighty
like goo
the shade is quiet and soft
tea is my religion
one sip then two
routines get shuffled out of place
and unless the roots beneath my feet
hold me in place, I become a tumble weed
spirals and lines and semi circles
cubes and squares and tiny quarters
the green of pistachio ice cream
all the music of brian eno
spaces where sounds are not
and people haven't been
patches of calm in a city
cluttered with heat, dust,
look up into the blue
cloud smiles
dog laughs
loose threads on that t - shirt
stawberry shortcake pink
and all the coming and going
like an episode of mash
with much less elegant timing
and the little animals that watch
and shake there head because you forgot you are one
sunburns
and liquid
and wading pools of thought
only loose threads

dandylion fields
yesterday was good,
every bloom was blooming every one
and the birds all called out
up not far north
the fields full of dandylions in different stages of life
adulthood and old age,
full of yellow
and the round perfect puff of fairy clocks,
just waiting to tell the time,
after something
high way and super malls,
dispite it all a family of geese
hmmh, this looks like a good spot...
i am thrilled at this encroachment
of nature with its sweet nerve
and awesome resilience
trying to keep it beautiful,
dispite our uglification
one rule, no pesticides on lawns
has changed the landscape,
and now if you excuse me
i must pick a few dandylion leaves
for tea

urgent crumbs
a sense of urgency nudges me to write words
string a whole set of wooden worded beads together
in the toaster
in the drawer where no one goes
crumbs
i see a portrait painting in browns of frieda and vincent
he and she preferring the sun
little piano songs
under the piano sound different
dancing in a deafway full of body and vibration
not knowing
drinking dregs of tea leaves
stepping on the crumbs
one day real soon
i'm gonna bake a cake
yep
chocolate and gooey
no crumbs
slabs
delicious thick slabs of the stuff
i will have you all to tea
and cake
dark
like the black forest only up north
dim
with filtered light

today's reason
9:38 am
the living room,
bathroom,
kitchen,
bedrooms,
hall way,
all need cleaning
blog
hmmh they still do
that's the whole apartment
the kat box scares me
and the stains in the toilet
what the heck
i know
i should
i will
just sharing
that can't be bad
the studio too
can't see the surface of any work space
what happened
living i guess
pulled into details
the right shoes
the colour
heaps
reading materials
good television
hunger
yes i will
begin
the deadline
the time
the weather
all those things
motivation
for doing something you would rather not
where to find it
when to look
under the sofa cushions
cough up that button
that spring onslaught of sunshine
that hurts the eyes
and saturates
yep that glenn gould thing again
this change of season
molasses
slow
today
thank full
for cloud cover
and walking with words
strung along
one after another after another
i have things i want to say
yes i hear the hamsters cage need doing too
and tonight's dinner for 3
laundry is done
that's one thing
a.d.d. you think
allergic reaction
to sunlight?
i have so much to tell
about the fruit market boys
and the colours in cloud
and the way the grass grows in patches
over at the field in the schoolyard
and the abandoned cheese string
that became the ant condominium
and the word condominium
and being 7
and lost in space
and letters
and shows
and friends
and my breakfast
and all that
thanks
got a few things to do now
i will begin in the living room
sweep clean even under the rug..

flowery lady
My wee Mama returns from her southern migration flight.
A flowery lady in her own right keeping houseplants green and smiling for years and years.
I was the temporary greenhouse guru along with Uncle Ug.
Together most of the green plants stayed that way.
Welcome back sweet little Mama.

at the museum
I am currently making fabric, touchy-feely cards.
Some of the fabric isn't really there it is only a print on paper and some is...the cards require our sense of touch to fully "see" them.
Recently my friend Kathleen said, adults buy the books for children with all the touchy-feely bits, because children like them...why do adults have no fun...
good question...
we are sensory, sensual creatures
touch is good
in the adult world there seems to be an expectation to live in our heads to use our intellects...what about play? touch? taste? smell?

pastel shoes
a funny thing happened on the way to work yesterday...i didn't go..
i skipped off.
didn't arrive at my desk,
and i almost fired myself
i did sadly optain a sad case of sun stroke
in my haze of drunken sun and breeze
no booze just rays of warm
i wandered downtown,
these shoes who i hadn't meet
whispered my name
and had me travel west
to bloor and yonge
i searched for language learning japanese books
and shoes
strains of classical chinese music
lured me in and the $9.99 sign
outside balanced on one foot
i slipped out of heavy black clogs
winter is finished my friend
i want bright
i want light
i need pastel easter egg-like shoes
don't you
doesn't everyone
well no,
any way
the nice man sold me shoes of two different sizes
it was one of those days
when everything glowed
and the breeze felt nice
against leg
knee socked
stopping to take in a tea
i realized the mistake
and got two shoes of the same size
i know a tad conservative
drunken of sun and breeze
no booze
i returned home no japanese language learning tools
but shoes

Mama's Home Spa
...just for the day
focus on spring cleaning
little elbow crevices
and too long toe nails
then get inside
renovate the cobwebs
in the mind
a large and efficient breeze
to blow out the old stale ideas
that say "your not good enough"
and pipe in sweet music and sounds
that sing and ring to the tune
"your just right as you are"
by far this is the best house cleaning
one can do

Speed
from my series of one of a kind fabric collage cards,
a recycled illustration fitting for the theme at illustration friday this week which is 'speed'.
I have a button which is sort of a mantra for me, "Conserve Energy do every thing as slow as possible"
I like turtles, and snails and not being rushed! On my clunker wonderful heavy metal raleigh one speed bicycle i have a bumper sticker that reads "it's a speed thing, you wouln't understand".

Magical Underpants and the Swivel Chair
Briefs needed for this trip
I creep into brothers clean laundry
'cause those jockeys are what i need

on its side, golden and yellow and super fast
underwear on head
hands on sides bracing

crayola smell fills the memory map as i soar

gleeful rocketing

with a swivel chair
and a pair of clean underwear
here comes the Martian Mama
and her
vacuum dog
floating
it is her
terry cloth
slippers
that allow
crater walks
in
shag
and
copper broadloom
suddenly the need for nourishment
the space food snack that i didn't forget to pack
my fingers work to open the tiny red raisin box
completely tricky as
the rocket ship avoids an asteroid
and on i go
consulting the crayola map
a safe landing
and Daddy walks in
smelling of distant lands
of freshest bread
and icing sugar
painted up
with blue and green
a dab of yellow
looking tired and pleased
back on earth
i take up the offer
of a sandwich
made on rye with kimel
caraway
i get carried away
what did you bring me?
a shiny ruby ring,
a tiara for a queen,
a hallah loaf,
six blueberry buns
and a sandwich,
on rye

pillow pocket karma
I loved this old apron that I found while hunting for used fabrics, it is so soft and the pattern is so joyful. I keept the pocket intact.
Did this apron ever think it would one day be a pillow? Karma is like that I think.
I like to think of the notion of having a pocket that one puts things in and it changes. Can you imagine a cheese and pickle sandwich after being emersed in the pocket becoming a paper back novella?
