an early entry for illustrationfriday.com. this weeks theme 'friendship'. With a nod to one of my favorite artists Frieda Kahlo and her painting from 1931 entitled "Frieda Kahlo and Diego Rivera". I entitle this illustration "Kim and Jay, friendship, 2005"

vintage catwalk
as part of www.loobylu.com a month of softies, may I introduce a feline of fine tuning, Rose Sweetwater. Rose was discovered at the Kreskie's lunch counter where she was singing to her strawberry milkshake. She is currently employed by the International Feline Dance Consortium, where she composes many fine songs and joyous melodies. She has been known to strut her stuff for the odd charity fashion show, but prefers to be behind the scenes as she is a triffle shy. Rumor has it that she is dating a handsome young elephant, yellow in colour but not nature named Bertram.

Horror Show
Borris Karloff is sitting in my living room eatting a grilled cheese sandwich
he is demanding ketchup
Peter Lorre is in there too
and they are discussing cheeses
his favorite
havarti
i don't want to seem impolite
but i really wish they would use plates
as i just did the tidying up
Oh great here comes Vincent Price
and if he hasn't brought in ripple potato chips
and dip!

Still Life: Sea Monkeys and Gingerale
This is a picture done by my daughter Bea. I think that it illustrates the Sea Monkeys likeness a tad better than the ads. We love our Sea Monkeys, actually they are really Bea's and she tells me I tend to hog them.

I almost never drink wine
I went to the Toronto Comic Jam last night (check out www.torontocomicjam.com). It is a place to spontaneously collaborate on comics. I did this to warm up. I likeded it so much I just couldn't share.
It is at a fabulous old bar with so much history it seeps into your skin, or perhaps that is just how alcohol poisoning feels? My friend Dave Howard has been putting on this event for many many years. It was very curious. I must work out the talk/draw ratio.

clear cut gluttony unbuttoned
an early entry for www.illustrationfriday.com. This weeks theme word "gluttony". I choose a protest illustration, gluttony suggest to me our consumption of the actual earth and it's resources.
To find out more about clear cutting visit the Greenpeace website.

word
i have a word for today, but it is shy
and dosn't want to come out
inside the lining of an old coat it lives
i try to coax it out with crackers and treekle
but it would rather stay hidden
safe and sound in satin and crumbs

balance
Here is my entry for the fun and fabulous site, that continues to move the little cogs in my wee head. The site to check out with weekly illustrative challenges is www.illustrationfriday.com. This weeks theme is 'balance' one of my very favorite words and concepts. Here are two illustrations based on that theme, and guess what they are ATCs also,(scroll down the blog to find answer to the burning question "what the heck are AtCs?"). I have been ill....oh so very ill, but am feeling much better now. Thank you for the nice well wishes of recovery. I just started to take a look at the other balance entries, so funny how we have this shared conscious of certain words and concepts, I swear I just looked and some happy syncronous thinking is popping up. Very interesting. Yes I must be feeling better I am starting to babble.

another batch of atcs
No one told me making artist trading cards are addictive. I should of known from my experience of collecting "Charlies Angels" trading cards humpf. And boy was I mad when that guy, Victor threw them in the mud, don't get me started on that.

Old Fashioned Document
i didn't get the digital camera
i got the yoga mat
so i am taking pictures with my eyes
translating them into words
and some times sharing
some times the pictures take a long time to develop
i have one that is in the lab from weeks ago
but the little capsule that i like to deliver hasn't come
other things do thou
i am using an old fashioned camera where you have to wait and see
what you get, with out hurry just a little faith,
but your never exactly sure
cause randomness is involved
and she is a sly fox at best
so i am taking pictures
some from the yoga mat
as i realize i can do that
learning to be inside of the lines and out
listening closely and seeing what also isn't there
